Week 40 - “Excited!” Photo Challenge

This week over at I Heart Faces, the theme is "Excited!!!" I have a bunch of pictures of Georgia where she's excited, but sadly, no time to play with them. But I found one from a few weeks ago that I just LOVE and thought I'd share it with you all! This is a pic taken on her first birthday, when we were carrying the cake to her and singing Happy Birthday to her. She was so surprised at everyone singing and this glowing giant thing coming at her...lol. But she loved the attention and couldn't stop staring at the candles. so this is the pic I took of her while we were all singing, and I love it! I used a few MCP actions on it as well to give it that retro/pastel feel, and out of all the different variations I did with color, this ended up being my favorite by far.

Week 24: “Let's Hear It For The Boys!”

It's week 24 at I Heart Faces and this weeks theme is all about boys! I'm not sure but I think this is the first time I'm entering in both the kids AND the adults categories, simultaneously. I was only going to enter a kids pic, but since it's The Mister's first fathers day, I thought I should give him a shout out... lol.

Don't forget to scroll down to the kids entry, because it's a good one - specifically because of how gorgeous the subject is. This is my nephew Mason - the cutest kid (besides my own) that you'll ever see. Yes, he's modeled professionally before... I mean look at him, right?

I {Heart} Faces, Week 23 Kids Category: “Sepia Toned”

This week at I {Heart} Faces is the sepia tone theme. I had a really hard time picking the right picture for this week because I had so many good ones to choose from. But since I'd done this one in sepia before, I knew that it would work really well. I did tweak it a bit differently than the first time I'd done it and I think I like the outcome this time even better. This is my little Belly Monster, Georgia, at somewhere between 3 and 4 months old...

Holy crap I'm a winner!

I can't believe it, but I am one of the winners in the I {Heart} Faces amateur Blurb Book contest!!!!

I don't even know what to say, other than this is a huge sign for me in regards to some life decisions I've been holding off on making... Thank you SO MUCH to Amy and Angie, the women who created the I {Heart} Faces blog, and to all those who had to sort through hundreds of GORGEOUS photos and decide which to choose... I have no idea how you managed to do it and decide on so few from so very many beautiful pieces of art...

Here is the photo I entered, and the original blog post that I entered it from:

Holy Crap!!! Thank you again and again!!!

I {Heart} Faces: Week 20, Silhouettes Category

The I {Heart} Faces photo challenge is in its 20th week, and this weeks category is "Silhouettes".

I'm gonna be totally in-your-face honest here: my entry blows.

Ok for starters, I took it a few years ago at a BBQ I was hosting. I took a bazillion pics that day, and the majority of them turned out FABULOUS... this one however, didn't come out exactly as I'd hoped. The background isn't bright enough, the silhouette isn't crisp enough, I didn't get enough of my sisters face in view, and, well, I just plain am not impressed with anything I've done here. So then why am I entering it? Well, because it's the only silhouette I had, and I didn't have time to take any (lies... I was too intimidated to even try) so I had to scrounge up something I'd already done. This is my nephew, Mason, and he's actually quite the gorgeous boy so I'm hoping to share some fully-lit face pics of him with y'all in the future.

If you'd like to see more pics (that are much better than this one...lol),
go on over to www.IHeartFaces.com and check them out... you'll be glad you did ;)

I {Heart} Faces: Week 19

This weeks contest at www.iheartfaces.com is a Blurb Book Photo Contest! You can enter your best pic and if you're lucky, they might put it in their Blurb book :)

Here is my entry in the beginner/amateur category. This is a pic of my niece Allie, taken two years ago. I adore this pic, because it captures her perfectly. Shockingly, even though I had no clue how to use my camera or what the heck I was doing, (and here's a shocker, I still don't...lol), this crop is SOOC. I did play with it a little using a few of the actions at MCP Actions (like Eye Doctor & Dentist, Magic Powder, High Definition Sharpening, to name a few) and I really like the outcome. But I SO wish I knew how to use my camera. It's a Canon Rebel EOS SLR XT. Hell, I don't even know if I wrote out the name of it correctly. The most frustrating thing to me right now (besides my 9 month olds sleep habits) is the fact that I have this awesome camera, and yet I have no clue in the world what to do with it. Some can read manuals and figure everything out - not me. I'm more of a "get in there and get your hands dirty" kinda gal, but even after trying, it seems I'm still left walking around with a huge question mark hanging over my head each time I press the button and hear *click* on my camera. If anyone knows about a "Canon SLR for Dummies" type of tutorial, please point me in the right direction!!! lol...

Do I think it's the very best picture I've ever taken? I'm not sure... I just know I love the pic and the person in it :)

Go on over to I {Heart} Faces yourself to see a gagillion more great images in both the amateur and professional categories!
