I {Heart} Faces: Week 20, Silhouettes Category

The I {Heart} Faces photo challenge is in its 20th week, and this weeks category is "Silhouettes".

I'm gonna be totally in-your-face honest here: my entry blows.

Ok for starters, I took it a few years ago at a BBQ I was hosting. I took a bazillion pics that day, and the majority of them turned out FABULOUS... this one however, didn't come out exactly as I'd hoped. The background isn't bright enough, the silhouette isn't crisp enough, I didn't get enough of my sisters face in view, and, well, I just plain am not impressed with anything I've done here. So then why am I entering it? Well, because it's the only silhouette I had, and I didn't have time to take any (lies... I was too intimidated to even try) so I had to scrounge up something I'd already done. This is my nephew, Mason, and he's actually quite the gorgeous boy so I'm hoping to share some fully-lit face pics of him with y'all in the future.

If you'd like to see more pics (that are much better than this one...lol),
go on over to www.IHeartFaces.com and check them out... you'll be glad you did ;)

I {Heart} Faces: Week 19

This weeks contest at www.iheartfaces.com is a Blurb Book Photo Contest! You can enter your best pic and if you're lucky, they might put it in their Blurb book :)

Here is my entry in the beginner/amateur category. This is a pic of my niece Allie, taken two years ago. I adore this pic, because it captures her perfectly. Shockingly, even though I had no clue how to use my camera or what the heck I was doing, (and here's a shocker, I still don't...lol), this crop is SOOC. I did play with it a little using a few of the actions at MCP Actions (like Eye Doctor & Dentist, Magic Powder, High Definition Sharpening, to name a few) and I really like the outcome. But I SO wish I knew how to use my camera. It's a Canon Rebel EOS SLR XT. Hell, I don't even know if I wrote out the name of it correctly. The most frustrating thing to me right now (besides my 9 month olds sleep habits) is the fact that I have this awesome camera, and yet I have no clue in the world what to do with it. Some can read manuals and figure everything out - not me. I'm more of a "get in there and get your hands dirty" kinda gal, but even after trying, it seems I'm still left walking around with a huge question mark hanging over my head each time I press the button and hear *click* on my camera. If anyone knows about a "Canon SLR for Dummies" type of tutorial, please point me in the right direction!!! lol...

Do I think it's the very best picture I've ever taken? I'm not sure... I just know I love the pic and the person in it :)

Go on over to I {Heart} Faces yourself to see a gagillion more great images in both the amateur and professional categories!
